Barton drops his first bollock

He`s alienated fans at Man City in the past and now Joey Barton has made his first cock-up at SJP. Speaking in the wake of last week`s Liverpool debacle he`s come out and criticised the fans for voicing their opinion at what was simply a joke performance. Barton should be on the receiving end of a fierce reaction at Ewood today from an anticipated 6,000 fans. Perhaps not the best time to go on records and voice disapproval. Barton said:

"I've not yet seen the famous crowd I was expecting to hear get behind us. Instead it has been vicious; I don't think I've heard a crowd that vicious. Last Saturday I was sitting on the bench - and after 20 minutes I had picked up on it. It shocked me. The fans want success and they want it straight away, but unless they change that mentality and start supporting the side through poor results then things won't change.

Unless there's a massive change, it's going to be the same for this manager, the next manager and whoever comes in after that. If it continues, when the manager goes for players, they will go somewhere else rather than jump in the frying pan. Sam's a good manager. He's getting the brunt of the criticism but doesn't deserve it. Not many managers can turn a club round in five minutes.'

You have a great point here, alienating yourself from the fans is no way to go about trying to improve the relationship, but he has also got a point too, a very good one. And at the end of the day, you, the fans will always be at your club, he won't. So why don't you just face facts and realise you are vicious, you are far too knee jerk and far too fickle. Best support in the land my arse!

was interesting on the sports show last night hosted by Gabby (hmmmm, gabby) forget what it was called, he certainly admits he does himself no favours but the way everything is reported always gives the impression it is all him. eg he got kicked in the shins by the 15 year old, so slapped him. Seems fair enough to me! Also comes from a very bad background, so in some ways has done well to get out of it.
The Fear
To be honest i think Barton only spoke a few home truths about the way the supporters were going on. Ok we have had a few bad defeats and iam not sticking up for any of the players but cmon everytime we were one nil down the crowd were out for blood and someone to blame. Barton may have a short fuse and says what he thinks and as long as he give 100% on the pitch thats all i want. Its easy to jump on the band wagon and slag players off and i bet half he said was taken out of contents by the press who by the way love printing cr@p about Newcastle. Look at the diference in the team after the so called supporters stopped moaning and actually started supporting and cheering them team on.
