Shearer rumours
The main mover and shaker in the managerial stakes this weekend was our former number 9, The Lion of Gosforth. Having rejected overtures from Sheepteeth previously, things turned around pretty quickly as Shearer seemed to state he`d be interested in taking over McClaren if he was sacked. These were obviously uttered before the Israel result.
Nevertheless the Sunday Sun followed up with unchanged copy saying that Shearer would be offered the Newcastle job if Big Sam ended up at England. Bizarre stuff all told quite frankly.
