Riquelme and Arshavin linked

Two interesting links make the morning papers (Sun and Mirror natch…) as Juan Roman Riquelme, a one time Tottenham target, and Andrei Arshavin make the hitlist. Riquelme is allegedly out of sorts and out of favour at Villareal (not the one near Consett) and available for £8m. Quite where he fits in with Geremi, Butt, Barton etc is another question. Arshavin meanwhile plays for Zenit St Petersburg and is another playmaker in the Riquelme mode.

So Newcastle are up to their old tricks again... "Who did Spurs want in the last transfer window and didnt get? Hmmm... Oh yeah! That Argentinian and Russian! We better go get them if Tottenham want them."
fazu
Riquelme style of football wouldn't suit English football. He would be another Veron. He can't play in a 442 either. To lazy for that.
Real Deal
Dreading either signing. Riquelme is too pedestrian, agree with the Veron comment. Arshavin too lightweight.
BaldEagle
Would be two brilliant signings if you could get them.
will it ever happen
