'If It's Football, It's Vital'

EMO on EMO

Having suffered the Shearer-esque criticisms of 'has been` and 'finished` over the last few months, Lil Mickey has come out railing against the media and the 'haters` who thought he was done for at the top level. EMO told the Sunday People:

'Only a fool would have said 'he won't come back as good as he left the pitch'. Obviously, if there were any fools out there then they'll get proved wrong. I've always been strong mentally - even when I went down on the pitch against Sweden. I've been to the best surgeon in the world and the best rehab. I've come back and I'd like to think that I'm every bit as good as when I left. The 10 days with England and the 10 days before that with Newcastle have gone really well. To start the season like this is obviously fantastic for both teams and myself.'

Meanwhile Steve 'Sheeps Teeth` McClaren has also backed up this claim saying:

'Michael has come back an even better and more complete player. His linkup play is better and he is even defending. He is world class. We have missed him for a year. If you give him the chance, you know he will score. He has come back with more vigour and more motivation. You can see that. There is always a concern in the player's mind when he has an injury like that whether he will come back as good as he was. Michael has lost none of his pace and he has shown he is not just a six-yard man. His game has evolved and that is something you cannot coach. It is born in you.'
