Shay shenanigans

As per usual, the moment a Newcastle player spends a minute outside the starting line up, the press have said player beating a line to whatever manager we`ve got`s door and demanding the notorious showdown talks. It happened repeatedly with Shearer, Duncan Ferguson and Craig Bellamy, under a combo of Gullit, Robson and Souness. Now the papers are itching to have history repeating itself with Shay. Allegedly unhappy about being left out of the starting line up for the Wigan game our Lifford Legend is now set to demand talks with Sam Allardyce over his 'preferred` number one.

One point from our end about this. The first is squad competition - I thought the days of a guaranteed name on the teamsheet were gone. However maybe Sam has opened up a dangerous precedent with his recall of EMO at the weekend. Surely if Harper deserves to stay in nets then Oba didn`t deserve to be dropped to the bench? We`ll soon see what his policy is against Derby soon.

Smacks of double standards. Oba should never have been dropped.
