'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gaffer speak

"When you have a 4-5-1 (formation) and you leave one man foraging up front, it`s always difficult to break down. We`ve to give them credit for that. It was just a case of waiting, being patient and not switching off at the back.

Finally, the Premier League (class) showed with the quality you have to have to play at this level. It was a great ball (from Shola Ameobi), a fantastic run and an excellent finish. That tends to be the difference. It was that move, that pass, that quality of finishing that knocked the stuffing out of Barnsley.

It was comfortable. We were never in trouble, apart from getting over-frustrated when we couldn`t break them down as much as we would have liked. It was a good win. We`re through to the next round and we`ve kept a clean sheet. That`s so important, I can`t emphasise that enough.

It`s not a formality Michael will start against Wigan. Nobody can be guaranteed places. He might start for England, but Steve has fewer options than me. I`ve got four strikers. This can only be good for Michael, but I`ll see who my fittest and most inform players are."

Looking good so far for Big Sam you must be delighted with his appointment as manager.

Yeh Mate well impressed with BSA also his signings have been excellent, I still think it will take a bit longer to sort out a starting eleven as at thie mo he's trying a few formations but when it all starts to gel we will be the team to watch. Who do you support Col8 ?
