As Fat Fred ponders on his next move, there is one manager on the look out for a club. Sven-Goran Eriksson will be allowed to look for another job between now and the end of England's World Cup campaign - with the blessing of the Football Association.
Eriksson says his departure from the top job in English football will cost the FA nothing if he can secure further employment by the time the World Cup is over.
The Swede is all set to give agent Athole Still the go ahead to seek out potential employers but Eriksson is fully under no illusions that he can simply walk into another job even though he wants to stay in management with a top club or leading country.
'If I want to negotiate I have my agent,' said Eriksson. 'In football you don't phone clubs or countries and say 'can I come and work for you'. They offer you the job.
'I can assure you that I will not be sitting talking to anyone when we are playing football. It will not disturb the preparation for the World Cup over the next five months.
'I want to stay in football, I want to be a manager in a club or country. The most important thing is that it is a good team with a chance to achieve something important.'
Would you want him at Newcastle?
