Hughes v Souness

Today's fixture at St James' Park is all about Graeme Souness v Mark Hughes. Rovers managers past and present. Hughes stepped into Souy's shoes at Ewood Park, and he is having a happier time time of things of late.

Refusing to jump on the band-wagon and kick the Newcastle manager now he is down, he believes the Toon gaffa will get it right, if he is given time.

Mark Hughes: 'All Premiership managers are under pressure and that pressure will always be there. It will be more intense on some managers at certain times because it is a results-driven business and you have to get results.

'Some clubs will have higher aspirations and expectations than others: demands of certain jobs are huge and Graeme will admit it has been a difficult time for him.

'But he's a very experienced manager who has had these times before and come through them. What you do know about Graeme is that he is a very strong willed, determined man.'
