'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Shaymus Speaks

Having watched his team mate Mr Shearer break one Newcastle record after the other during his ten seasons at the club, it looks like Shay might go into the books with an even better one. Currently our number one stands less than 100 appearances away from beating the all time appearances record at NUFC. Two injury free seasons will surely see the Lifford Lad take the mantle that has been standing for as long as Peter Crouch`s neck. Speaking ahead of the season, Shay said:

"It was a frustrating season for me. I've had three big injuries, and they say things come in threes, so I just hope that's the injuries out of the way for another six years, touch wood. I don't like looking back over the years too much. But looking at last season, it was frustrating from a personal point of view, both in terms of injuries and the fact that was haven't got back into Europe through our league position. Hopefully, we can put things right this term and get this club back where it belongs.'
