'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Knock-on effect?

A couple of points have come out of the 'Henry to Barca` headline cropping up everywhere this morning. The first is the impact it could have on Newcastle getting into the top four. Sam, Ashley and Shepherd must smell blood here. Arsenal without Henry looked a pale shadow of their former selves last season. Some shrewd investment and padding out of the squad with quality in the right areas could really see the club make a bolt for the Champions League places. This could be heightened should Wenger nick off now his two main allies at the club have gone (Dein and Terry H).

Secondly is the detrimental impact it could have on Newcastle. Already The Guardian is speculating that Martins and Owen are on the hitlist as strikers for Wenger to replace Le Frenchman with. Due to Shepherd`s complete idiocy in placing release clauses in their contracts this could very quickly become a reality. Cheers Fred.

No offense guys but I am dumbfounded to hear that you think just because of Arsenal's demise that you will be able to get fourth spot with relative ease following some signings. Are you not aware of how poor you were last season? PLus, as much as I hate to say this, Spuds are progressing well as are Everton. Even my boys would stand a better chance! Im sorry guys, there is a lot of work that needs to be done by Allardyce, who I believe is the right man for you, before you can even consider CL football!

No offence to you guys, but I seriously hope Wenger's plans to replace Henry (& I'm 100% positive he has plans) don't include either Owen or Martins. I have never rated Owen & although Martins is decent he is certainly no replacement for henry & he will be off to the ACN for two months, which we don't need as Adebayor will also probably be there (if his problems with Togo are sorted).

I don't think it's unrealistic with the same squad as last season to expect top 6 football. Given we had Owen, Emre, Duff, Given, Shola and Dyer all out for months, we've signed some bodies with the overhaul of the defence expected shortly. Mike Ashley's cash coming in and the fact Arsenal have to lose Toure and Adebeyor for a chunk of the season with the ACN has to play in our favour. I think Martins has quit international football following the assassination attempt in Lagos last week.

Trust me, if we got Owen or Martins to replace owen i would rip out my eyeballs and make them into little squares and eat them myself as those ***** BAGS cannot replace the grend master of football and the best player to grace the earth! We want Torres, Anelka or Villa. Not ***** and shat!

Owen to Arsenal is a transfer I'd rate as having an 80% chance. Think Arsenal could fall from the top four now, there is a clutch of clubs who could take that spot, us, Villa, Man City (if the new investor does pay what he is saying on the team) and Spurs are also possibles.

what a shame henry left. :) but if wenger thinks he can snoop round our CFS he can kiss my a$$. Thats if wenger is even stayin with arsenal

Henry barely played last season, yet we still finished top four. We will also sign at least two new players. I think people want to believe arsenal will drop down now so their club has a chance when the reality is much different. Arsenal now have money to spend (& even more once reyes joins athletico for 8-10 million), so rather than a now injury prone 30 year old, we will have a slightly younger & less injury prone player to score a few of the million chances we create each game. If anyone is to drop out the top 4 I can only see it being Liverpool & even then it will only be if their new owners refuse to spend. Should the americans stump up the cash they promised the fans & Benitez then the top 4 will remain the same, probably in the same order aswell.

do you think Wenger might leave then do you, that would be awful for Arsenal, i hope he stays he has done well for them. Apart from selling Henry for a measley 16 mil they could of got loads more than that. Especially with Bent being 17mil are we to believe Bent is a better player lol, i dont think so
