Tayls and Jimmy crash out

Despite doing their level best, Stevie T and Jinky Jimmy Milner bowed out of the Euro Under 21 Championships in heartbreaking fashion, as they lost a 32 penalty shoot out. Milner actually scored two penalties and Taylor limped his way up to the spot and lashed home, despite being crippled through extra time and the latter stages of normal time. Both lads did their reputations no harm at all, with Pearce commenting on Taylor:

'My opinion was everyone had to take a penalty. Their coach spotted that Steve was told to get off by the referee because of his injury. At first they thought I was complaining and I wasn't, I was going on to say the boy had to take a penalty. It's the fairest way of doing it. It was the right and proper way to do it. The only thing it did was enhance the magnitude of Steven Taylor. We were prepared, for weeks we were practising. The ones I've been involved in as a player were about five or six kicks so we were doing something right.'

Definitely. Pearce's comments are really good. Pity he can't manage as well as he talks.
