Tattle on targets

With the Rozenhal deal potentially going through today, the focus switches to other positions in the team. Looking at what`s been circulating in the media, we`ve shortened it to:

• Sami Hyypia - being looked at to add some experience to the back. Mentioned in a couple of papers, mostly due to the fact we missed out on Ben Haim;

• Habib Beye - keeps cropping up. The Marseille right back has apparently just had a new contract offered to him by the French side. No word yet whether he plans to accept their terms or look for a big English payday. Probably a Willy McKay client;

• Bakari Sagna - supposedly at the stage of advanced talks with the right back. Arsenal are looming in the background however and I doubt he`ll pass up the chance to join the French Foreign Legion down at the Emirates;

• Fabricio Coloccini - the wild haired Argie got linked to us at the weekend by the Sunday Sun. Given their reputation for getting nowt transfer based right, we`ll skip over this one;

• El Hadj Diouf - Spit the Dog`s links to us seem to grow every day. Along with Anelka they have been given a bit more credence than the Kanoute deal. Owen staying however seems to have thrown a spanner in the works however;

• Ryan Babel - seemingly joining his Dutch compatriot Van Persie up the Arse. Says he`s been scouted but Wenger`s long term links to the lad seem strongest. Ditto Marco Rigters.

Worryingly there`s little in the way of news on a left back since the links to Baines were rubbished.

I'd be worried about the lack of left-back talk if it were halfway through August, but the transfer window hasn't even officially opened yet. There's still a long way to go -- however, I think Allardyce will try to get everyone into the club in time for the start of pre-season training -- or at least before the start of the season.
