'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sam shoots down signings

Following weekend links to Giuly and Tuncay, Big Sam has gone immediately on the record to scratch any interest we have in the wide players. With N`Zogbia, Solano, Duff and Milner still all on the books, the priority has to be in other areas - namely across the whole of the back four, which looks as thin as Shearer`s fringe these days. Sam said:

'Everyone knows that we are on the look-out for players and, unfortunately, that means we are going to be linked with a lot of names this summer. But, as far as I am concerned, the stories linking us with Tuncay Sanli and Ludovic Giuly are agent talk.'

They're both good players, but untested in this league and we've cover aplenty in those positions. Allardyce is speaking sense by keeping to only buying players that we need.

...of course, if we end up missing out on our defensive targets as well as these two there'll be all hell let loose, but that's irrelevant for the moment.
