'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A Hunter and a Shepherd

An interesting revelation from the Daily Mail this morning as they out the alleged backer of Freddie Shepherd in the ongoing battle for supremacy at SJP:

"Hunter is one of Shepherd's flock

Billionaire businessman Sir Tom Hunter is understood to be backing close friend Freddy Shepherd`s attempts to stay in charge at Newcastle. Hunter sold his chain of sports shops to JJB Sports in 1998 before setting up a retail investment firm that has established him in No 1 position on Scotland`s rich lists. Toon chairman Shepherd is ill in hospital, while rival Mike Ashley is attempting to increase his 41 per cent stake."

Our research on Hunter puts him at about £800m in wealth, less than half of prospective owner Mike Ashley. Plus he`s tied to Freddie Shepherd. Let`s stick with Mike please…
