Barton states his preference

Today`s Chronicle has some revealing insights about Joey Barton`s future destination, basically stating he`s focused on joining NUFC. Speaking to a 'close friend` who Vital Newcastle can reveal is Willy McKay (Barton`s agent), the paper has managed to elicit these quotes from the lad:

"I just want my future sorted - and it`s now between Newcastle and West Ham where I will be next season. At this moment I haven`t been given permission to speak to anybody. But, having played for Manchester City, I`d find it hard to go to a club without an equally passionate support. What Sam Allardyce achieved at Bolton without a big budget was fantastic. Newcastle United are a big club and who knows what he can achieve there? The future looks very exciting."

Looks set to happen by all accounts.

If he keeps his head on right he could be reformed at NUFC and achieve much more than he could of at MCFC. And who else but BSA to sort his mess out? i think (if) he came to united he'd be a plus for the team no doubt.
