Ash hits the 50% barrier

Ash hits the 50% barrier

The Guardian this morning brings good tidings early doors, speculating that Mike Ashley has managed to increase his stake in the club past the 50% mark. Apparently he has gained the majority shareholding through both agreement and promises from existing shareholders, totalling 54% now and basically destroying any hope Shepherd has of remaining in control. Fantastic news if true.

Other news includes the fact him and Shepherd are unlikely to sit down face to face until next week at the earliest. Ashley's team however are likely to meet with club officials to start the bedding in process and reveal his plans for the club.
