'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Super Eagles shunned

There`s a few raised eyebrows in the Vital Newcastle server room this morning as we read about yet another Oba Martins absence. Despite him and Sam having sat down and ironed things out about his Watford wandering at the end of the season, it seems he`s managed to annoy the chiefs at the Nigerian FA by his second walkabout in the last 3 months. He was set to play Kenya in a friendly ahead of the early June qualifiers for the Cup of Nations. However he`s cried off, using all sorts of excuses including getting treated for a knee injury by his former doctor at Inter Milan and racked up a whole host of airmiles at the FA`s expense.

Obviously here at VN we`re not bothered if Martins misses the summer internationals - hell, the lads held our line for the whole of last season on his own and must be bloody knackered. A good rest to see him start next season fresh is just what the (Inter Milan) doctor ordered. However the word is that Nigeria might take this to FIFA to try and get us lumbered with some sanctions, which wouldn`t be the ideal start to Sam`s season. More on this when we get it…

Attitude problem. great player but he needs to watch who he *****es off. Sam won't tolerate him mucking everyone about.

Serves Nigeria right for rigging up pointless friendlies, just like England.
