'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Sam`s Spearhead

It`s been a while since we did a tally up of all the players supposedly linked with the club this summer. Following a frenzied Sunday yesterday I suppose now is about the right time to give a run down of all the targets. First though comes the unsurprising news that the papers are linking us with a swoop for Liverpool beanpole Peter Crouch. This one has been on the cards for a while, especially given Sam`s penchant for a target man at the top of the team. Benitez looks set to rejig his squad with a nippy Etoo/David Villa type up front and we`ve been linked with the cast offs, Fowler and Crouch.

The Times plumps for an Owen-Crouch swap deal, first hinting that Sam must figure out which of the two are likely to stay.

Anyway, on current form the links list currently stands at:

Derek Boateng, Kevin Nolan, Tal Ben Haim, Peter Crouch, Steve Sidwell, Craig Bellamy, Christian Vieri, Christian Brocchi, Marco Zoro, Diego Alves Carreira, William Lanes da Lima, Kevin Davies, Nicolas Anelka, Gary Speed, Gelson Fernandes, Mark Viduka, Nigel Reo-Coker, Sami Hyppia, David Beckham, Boudewijn Zenden, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Phil Jagielka, Francois Sterchele.
