'If It's Football, It's Vital'

That Beckham story

The People has already shown itself to be a bastion of Newcastle related high-jinks. Kevin Phillips in a £12m switch, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and Ronaldo all linked - priceless non-events from the Sunday rag. However today it took it up a notch with the news that we want Beckham on loan when the MLS season finishes. This was swiftly countered this morning by Frank Yallop, La Galaxy`s head coach who quipped:

'He won't be going on loan anywhere. He'll be taking a break at that point and getting ready for our pre-season. He's shown that he's a world class player, he doesn't need to go back and go on loan anywhere.'

The paper also runs with some quotes about Big Sam wanting him on board. Overall - a fantastically unoriginal non-starter.

what is becks doing retiring from serious football, surely he doesn't 'need' the money and you would think the love of the game would have brought him back to the prem.
