'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Marathon Man

Credit to the lad as young starlet Steven Taylor looks set to drag his season on through the summer. Having been called up to the England B squad, Tayls looks set to play through the summer in the Euro Under 21 Championships. However he`s just happy to be out there:

"I have not really got much of a break. I have got the Under 21 European Championships, so I have got about five more days off and then I am straight back into it again. For me, it is just keep going and going. But the more football I play, the better, so I am happy. You are playing against the best in Europe at Under 21 level, so that will give me more experience and, come the start of pre-season, I will hopefully be in shape.

The number of games I have played, it has been great for me. The more games I play, the more confident I get. To get this call-up just topped the season off for me. It has been disappointing - we wanted to be in the top six with Newcastle, but it did not happen. We had a lot of setbacks with the injuries. But luckily enough, I got this call-up, which is a great feeling for me and a massive honour. Week in, week out, playing in the Premiership, playing at the top level and playing against players who are world class does help you.'
