'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Signing links - on & off-field

It`s no surprise to see Big Sam`s central defender hunt begin in earnest, despite the fact he`s still supposed to be over in France on a family holiday. First up is Sami Hyppia, who we famously let go as our then defensive coach Mark Lawrenson didn`t consider him good enough. Funny then that he ended up at Liverpool shortly after. Hmmn. Anyway Hyppia will speak with the Reds after Wednesday`s Champions League final, with us and Citeh supposed to be keen.

The other signing looks to be made in the backroom, with Bolton raided for their sports and injuries specialist, Mark Taylor. Performance director Mike Forde is also linked with the club.

One player defying our interest seems to be Sol Campbell. Despite Big Sol getting jiggy with a Geordie lass, the Northern Echo today plays down the fact we`re interested, with Pompey wanting Bramble to play alongside him, not replace him. I can hear Pompey fans making a large collective sigh already…

With our crew of cripples we're gonna need a new inuries specialist. Still at least when Owen and Dyer go and with Moore gone our injury time will be halved per season.
