Pompey Denial Number 5

Another day, another denial from Pompey over Sol Campbell, as their sphincters start jangling over players leaving now they've missed out on Europe. Sol to Newcastle has been linked for ages and the fact Allardyce is bound to go for a defender suggests there'll be a few more column inches dedicated to this story before the end of the summer. Pompey said:

'Newcastle did not want Sol last season so why should they have him now? Sol has another year left on his contract and there is no chance of us letting him go. He still plays to a high standard and I am delighted to have him here.'

Why on earth would campbell want to go there, unless it's money? Newcastle will have plenty to spend though when Freddy carries Michael Owen over to Liverpool!
