Boom's Bro In Bulgaria
French defender Yannick Boumsong, the younger brother of Newcastle United's Jean-Alain Boumsong, has joined Bulgarian champions CSKA Sofia on a two-and-half year contract, the club said on its website on Thursday.
The deal includes an option for one more year.
The 22-year-old former Auxerre player, who was a free agent, will become the second Frenchman in the Bulgarian Premier league, joining Levski Sofia's Sedrik Bardon.
CSKA Sofia have 40 points from 14 matches and lead the 15-team league by seven points ahead of city rivals Levski. And we remember the club as the first match Bobby Robson (he wasn't 'Sir' in those days) was in charge as Newcastle manager. September 16th 1999, we won 2-0 with goals from Nobby Solano and Temuri Ketsbia.
