Date:Wednesday January 11 2006
We reported earlier in the week: 'Graeme Souness is set to bring in new faces, and out-of-favour Lens defender Yoann Lachor is expected to join Newcastle later this week. Lachor is currently undergoing a trial with the Magpies and should sign a permanent deal once he passes a medical at St James' Park. Lachor, whose contract with the Ligue 1 outfit ends in June this year, has been with Lens for nine years but has made just three appearances this season.'
BUT .... Newcastle have ended Yoann Lachor's trial - a day ahead of schedule.
Graeme Souness: 'He did well in the short time he was here, but we have a couple of other things to look at as well before we make any final decisions.'
French left-back Lachor, currently with Lens, has also been linked with Birmingham.
