Having had a season to forget in a black and white shirt, the annus horribilis is finally over for Damien Duff. The ankle injury he sustained against Pompey at the weekend should be enough to see him miss the rest of the campaign, which is a blessing in disguise according to some black and whites. No doubt he`ll be fit and raring to go come international week in June, being the Irish equivalent of Michael Owen… Glenn Roeder chipped in:
"While an X-ray has shown there is no break, Damien has a badly swollen ankle, and our medical people tell us that he will not be able to play again this season. It's bad luck for Duff coming at a time when he was beginning to show the sort of form we have been looking for from him."
Stop laughing at the back. Meanwhile Scott Parker, Tone Sibierski and Kieron Dyer are all expected to return for the Chelsea game this Sunday.
