'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bosses united in praise for Bairns

Joe Joyce:

"We`re naturally disappointed but we've had a terrific run in the competition again this season. Over the two legs we've shown good character and despite some individual errors we can take a lot of positives from this season's run. We've certainly shown progress overall and in Andy Carroll we have a player emerging who's been a benchmark for the rest of the squad. He has been involved the first team and he can be a role model for other players coming through. But it's not just Andy - we've had Kazenga LuaLua and young Ryan Donaldson as well, but the run in the FA Youth Cup has been a team effort.'

Kenny Wharton:

"It's no consolation to get this far at the moment but when we look back perhaps it will give the players confidence for next season. We have players involved at the moment who played last year and can play next year too. That can only be good for us. I think we started OK at Liverpool, and their coach Steve Heighway admitted we had them rattled going into the break looking for just one goal to tie it all up.'
