A Champions League team?

Without writing off their chances, Alkmaar player Nourdin Boukhari has branded the lads the standard of a Champions League team. He didn`t go as far as to deem the tie over yet though:

"We are analysing the result positively because everything looked terrible in the first half. I believed that we were in for a big defeat. Newcastle played well. We made it hard for them in the end but they were like a Champions League team - far better than Fenerbahce or Ajax. But with our fans behind us, scoring two goals against them at home is very likely. We need to improve defensively, because Newcastle are very strong in attack. But I want and expect a magical European night.'

Shame our lot don't have the same belief, seriously the lack of belief from some of our lot is astonishing, is that the players or management? Not sure.

had we not had so many critical injuries at the start of the season we would'nt be where we are in the league. Next season will be a big test for us and hopefully if we stay consistent and keep players fit we definately have the quality to compete for a league position.

Owen and Martins together and some serious rebuilding of the defence and why can't we be? Given how crap Arsenal are when they come up north will always give us a chance of overtaking them...especially when Henry leaves for Spain!

No way. Shepherd has cocked things up so badly with Souness it'll take a few years of the new tv deal before we can even get close.

Easily a UEFA Cup team if we can shore up the defense. We need a target man though - what about Zigic at Santander?

Uefa cup team, agreed, but they need to wake up to achieve it! A lot is souness, a lot injuries. We will get there, we've done it before, we;ll do it again.
