'If It's Football, It's Vital'

GR pre-match quotes

GR on tactics vs the Beasts:

"Viduka is a player I've admired for a long time. I like technically skilled players and Mark is that. He's kind on the eye and very, very strong. Central defenders that try to out-strength him are wasting their time. You have to be much cleverer than that. If you think you can go pound-for-pound with Mark, or Yakubu, you will lose out because he is so strong."

GR on squad selection:

"We've had five or six months of an injury list that has never been less than eight or nine and at one stage was as high as 12. At one time it would have been arguable which team would have won - the one that was injured or the one that was fit. I've waited all season to make these decisions, it's part of a manager's job. For four or five months now the team has picked itself, which I believe is not a healthy situation.

Personally I cannot wait to make the decisions on team selections that a manager has to make. For me it's not a problem. It's not being disrespectful to the kids but the fact is we've had so many games this year when it's been difficult to make a substitution confident it will change the game. Those decisions are easy because I always know in my own mind what the starting team's going to be.'
