'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Daily Round Up - 28/02/2007

Hot off the evening ticker is the ongoing Michael Owen compo saga. With the player just over a month away from a comeback Sepp Blatter has ven spoken out against our 'outrageous` £6.2m compo claim. With the FA paying 50k a week perhaps we are getting a little carried away? Blatter confirmed they weren`t budging from their 900k final offer.

Meanwhile GR has insisted his team need a fully fit Emre back in the side. With racism charges looming over him and a summer move much mooted it`s hoped the midfielder can get back on the pitch and make the most of what could be his last months with the club. Roeder said:

'Emre's calf injury has gone on too long. We need a fit Emre on the football pitch - and that's what I am expecting to get. Saturday's game with Middlesbrough will come too early for him, but I expect he will be in contention for our game with Alkmaar next Thursday. I have watched him in training in the past couple of days and he is running and working hard, and it will be good to have him back.'

Glenn also bitched back at Alkmaar coach van Gaal who had suggested that we should be in a better Premiership position given the players we had:

'Louis van Gaal is supposed to be a coach who is thorough in his preparations. So if he has said these things I am surprised he has not done his homework and found out just what has been happening with injuries to Newcastle United this season. And I wonder if he knows that we have been without Michael Owen for all this season.'

I dont think Owen will be the same when he comes back, think it will take time to find his feet but could be to late before he does

Too late for what!? Next season will be his true test.

yeah thats what i meant. to late for next season. It'll take time for him to become half the player he was in my eyes. But thats always so after long injuries... glad if he proves me wrong England could do with him at the moment
