Know Your Enemy - Boro - Schwarzer
Boro signed the Aussie goalkeeper from Bradford as a replacement for the portly Mark Crossley. Since joining Boro he`s been a bit of a mixed bag, fumbling some pretty special crosses and costing them a fair few goals, not least in a 4-4 draw vs Norwich a couple of years ago. He has however proved himself a dab hand at penalty shoot outs, with his most recent success coming in the cup win over Bristol City this month.
Against us Schwarzer has been memorably sent off, tripping Laurent Robert in our 4-1 trouncing of them at the Riverside back in 2001.
Know Your Enemy - Boro - Xavier
The Dr Seuss look-alike has recently returned to Boro after being suspended for being pumped up on juicers. He`s looked a pretty impressive figure at set-pieces this season but, like in his spell at Everton, he`s been the usual liability at the back.
Know Your Enemy - Boro - Woodgate
Despite his pre match protestations about 'loving the Boro` in the run up to the game at the Riverside last year he`s still the finest natural defender I`ve seen in a black and white shirt. Hopefully he`ll head back to Madrid and win over Capello because he`s been fantastic for the Beasts this season.
Know Your Enemy - Boro - Pogatetz
Known affectionately as 'Mad Dog` he really showed that side of his game last season after joining Boro. Even before he signed for them he was under investigation by UEFA after a horror tackle was about to get him a 6 month world ban. Eventually, after a couple of sendings off, he seems to have developed into a pretty decent defender, winning rave reviews from Southgate and the goon on the radio, Bernie Slaven.
Know Your Enemy - Boro - Arca
The former darling of Wierdside, he seems to be doing ok down on Teesside. Scored last weekend against West Brom in the cup. Over rated.
Know Your Enemy - Boro - Yakubu
If Oba is 28 then The Yak must be about 50. I`ll take my hat off to McClaren on this score as despite us being linked with him for ages we never had the bottle to buy him from Pompey. Has scored pretty freely for Boro so far, including one against Reading last weekend, and got the winner against us back in September.
Know Your Enemy - Boro - Viduka
Not much introduction needed on this score, having played against is many times for Leeds, Boro and Croatia Zagreb (I think). Scored against Reading at the weekend and will be a big test for Gooch and Steven Taylor.
Know Your Enemy - Boro - Morrison
Shares his name with a pretty average new pop artist and pretty average just about sums him up on what I`ve seen of him. Plays right wing.
Know Your Enemy - Boro - Downing
Fits very much into the Dyer category of a decent Premier League player but someone who finds the step up to international level one hop too much. Has caused us some trouble in the past, especially the 2-2 game at the Riverside in 04/05.
Know Your Enemy - Boro - Boateng
Boro`s anchorman in midfield and a stalwart for them. Seems to have been taking some flak on Century FM of late for not reaching the standards of previous seasons.
