Newcastle Takeover Talk Almost At An End
Ive said before that the forthcoming January transfer window will tell us once and for all if there really is any truth in the takeover talk.
The rumours on Sky and the usual media outlets all linking Amanda Staveley and the PCP group with making a bid.
Recent photos of Mike Ashley and Staveley at a curry house down South seemed to add fuel to the fire but with many PR stories being played out in Ashley's ten years here, we've all had our say and speculated on the various things that the 'meeting' could have meant.
One of these theories was that a deal has been agreed in principal with an announcement not being released yet for varying reasons.
One of these reasons being that other clubs who have players we want to buy would increase their asking price on the back of us supposedly coming into more wealth but there's far too many holes in that with any transfer at any other club potentially doing the same. The proposed transfer of Van Dijk to Liverpool from Southampton one for example.
Even Alan Shearer seemed to insinuate that a deal could be on behind closed doors by saying he was guessing that it could already be done but with bluff and double bluff around, we'll only really know by the type of January signings made, if any and the body language of Rafa Benitez.
Hopefully we get this done and dusted to end the constant speculation as it helps no-one.
