Martins Mystery

Martins Mystery

Newcastle United may still face censure from FIFA after Obafemi Martins failed to join up with Nigeria during the week.

Despite Newcastle insisting that they were not preventing the player from joining up with his nation Martins did not join up with the Nigeria squad before their 4-1 defeat to Ghana.

However, there is no suggestion of any impropriety on the part of Newcastle and it is believed that Martins went to visit his sick mother rather than turn out for his nation.

If Nigeria do report Newcastle to FIFA it will be interesting to see what, if any, action is taken.
