Woodgate Return?
Jean-Alain Boumsong is being linked with a move to Marseille as reports in the North East claim Graeme Souness would like to re-sign Jonathan Woodgate. I'm sure we would all 'like' to have Woody back, but where would the money come from?
Woodgate, who has been severely hampered by injuries in the Spanish capital, is reportedly an 'ambitious' target for the Toon. The major factor is that Freddy Shepherd is a big fan of the defender, and has said more than once that he would love to see him back at St James' Park.
It has been suggested that Woodgate and Albert Luque could swap clubs in a loan arrangement between the two clubs. But with Michael Owen out for months, Souness is going to need all the strikers he has on his books. Plus, Woodgate has always maintained his determination to prove himself at El Santiago Bernabeu.
