St James' Opening Announced

St James' Opening Announced

Just as the wife was commenting on an aspect of Newcastle in that an annual event hadn't been announced, the club confirmed that it indeed would go ahead.

With me thinking that the wife didn't pay attention to any football things, she can in fact go along to Newcastle's ground with the kids for the annual fun day in a place which we've treat like a church over the years.

As it is, this year's open day will be held next Thursday, the 17th August and it's usually the time where those who cant get a ticket or cant afford one, take the opportunity to go and see the team in training.

Past year's have seen the original plan to open the one stand then extended around the lower bowl of St James' and it's the same this time with the East Stand the first port of call.

With the usual mix of rides and entertainment outside the ground, it's a canny way to waste a couple of hours with the kids as well as allow them the chance to see the Newcastle team.

The open day runs from 9 am up until 2pm although the different squads of players on the pitch only happens for a couple of hours of it.

Newcastle announced a schedule on their official website which is:

9am - Fan Zone as well as East Stand turnstiles open

9:45am - 10:15pm - Foundation and Academy training sessions

10:30am - 11:45am - First team training session

11:45am - Fan challenge

2pm - Fan Zone closes

The times for the players being on the pitch are approximate estimations and may be off.
