Ashley Holding Up Newcastle Transfer Movement

Ashley Holding Up Newcastle Transfer Movement

It feels not too dissimilar to the Summer of 2008 where Kevin Keegan was undermined by Mike Ashley.

With little movement in the transfer window and murmurings of links left, right and centre, the lack of trust from all supporters of a man that has a track record of lying and no ambition to better the football club in the main, is evident to all.

The straw that broke Keegan's back in 2008 was transfers behind his back but with a slightly different story panning out in front of us and Rafa Benitez's eyes, what goes on behind closed doors will no doubt be the same.

If we have the cash and Rafa is allowed to spend it then what is the hold up in deals?

Keegan mentioned conference calls being done after negotiations to scupper the earlier striking of deals and we suspect this may have been going on in January as Benitez didn't get the couple of players he wanted.

The positions he wanted filled still be vacant now some five or six weeks into this Summer's transfer window.

Many people have said that Ashley has learned how to run the football club better over the years but I fail to see where when nothing he says can be trusted with some interesting quotes panned out of his court case over whether he is lying or not over the £15m bet over share prices.

In that court case he said he had nothing to do with club business here or transfers but Rafa Benitez seemed to contradict that today with some quotes in The Chronicle.

He said: When I had the meeting with Mike Ashley I was confident that after that meeting we have the money available and the wages.

Everything is in place to move forward.

Hopefully, Mike can keep his word and we can do what we want to do.

Seems to me as though someone has the final say on things or has the power to do business, that man seems preoccupied elsewhere.

Hopefully Rafa and the fans haven't been strung along here because the club wont survive the massive hit it will take and another inevitable relegation to follow. One that the club wont come back from with it's worth plummeting.
