Sheeran Extends St James' Stay

Sheeran Extends St James' Stay

It was seen as a bit of a coup the other week when it was announced that Ed Sheeran was to play a concert at St James' Park next Summer on June 8th.

Coming on the back of The Rugby Magic Weekend being here the past few years and the European Rugby finals next year, it seems that Newcastle were getting one part of the football club right in maximising the revenue stream when the football club wasn't playing.

Adding to that, Sheeran due to selling out, added another date on the 9th June. Coinciding with the Scotswood road being closed for the Blaydon Races, it was a surprise when this sold out straight away as well.

Today, it was announced that a third day on the trot for Sheeran will be held on the 10th June and if that sells out then there could yet be another extension.

With the stage to be set in the Gallowgate corner, it will be interesting to know the capacity although it should be around the 50,000 mark.

The concerts will be a further boost to trade in the city with hotels and shops expecting to prosper.
