Next Signing Overdue

Next Signing Overdue

With frustration starting to rear it's head amongst the Newcastle support again, thoughts have long been on who we're signing next.

Club media mouthpiece, The Mirror, reckon we're more than keen on a championship winger and a deal could be done soon.

Part of the frustration here is the fact that manager Rafa Benitez said ages ago that he wanted deals done in time for pre-season training and with only one new body in, the papers aren't helping.

If it's not a story on a deal that could be likely, it's the use of words in relation to a potential deal with 'looking to', 'trying to', 'thinking of making a bid' that get the proverbial water boiling.

Basically nobody knows what's happening although we do know it's nowhere near enough for a club that wants to continue being in this league and deals need signed and fast.

As it is, the player that The Mirror reckon is a goer is Jacob Murphy of Norwich for a fee around £8.5m.

22 year old Murphy is supposedly wanted by Crystal Palace and Southampton as well but it's said that he wants to play for former Real Madrid boss Rafa.

Whatever the truth is, we'll find out soon enough but I think this week will be massive in determining the future with friendly games starting on Friday. No signings could spark tensions coming out in the open instead of being behind closed doors.
