After seemingly looking like a permanent move here wasn't likely, there's news of a twist.
Christian Atsu joined us on a season long loan deal from Chelsea and when he was pictured in Chelsea training gear last week, we thought that his time at Gallowgate was up.
Then we had one of Newcastle's media partners in The Mirror saying that a deadline for us to have first option was alleged to be yesterday, the 14th of May. A story we spoke of earlier.
Today now sees a new twist in the story with Sky Sports saying that we're in discussions with him in making it permanent.
The talk is that the price is around £6.2m which seems to be the figure mentioned in relation to an agreed price of his loan deal here, so maybe the deadline hasn't passed yet.
Anyway, if or when anything is confirmed, we'll find out.
