Atsu Deal Looks Unlikely

Atsu Deal Looks Unlikely

One of Newcastle's media partners spoke of a deadline in relation to one of our players.

The Mirror spoke of a £6.5m agreed fee would have to have been exorcised by the end of yesterday for the transfer of Christian Atsu here permanently.

Atsu being one of something like 40 players that Chelsea loaned out and the Chelsea man came to us on loan this season.

For me personally, I thought the Ghana international winger did ok in patches but that he would be a squad player at best in the premier league for us. He's just not good enough.

During our championship winning season, the 25 year old featured in 35 games, starting 16 of them. He scored 5 goals and assisted in another 3.

If the deadline has passed and with no news anywhere of a deal being signed then we have to presume that Atsu's time at Newcastle is up although you cant rule out a cut price deal being mentioned at some point because Atsu is soon to go into the last year of his Chelsea contract.

Regardless, I think that's unlikely.
