Newcastle Lose Trust In EFL Officials

Newcastle Lose Trust In EFL Officials

I used to think the standard of refereeing was bad in the premier league with many strange decisions going against us at regular periods.

Things like the disallowed goal from Cheick Tiote that he scored from outside the box after a corner after Joe Hart complained he couldn't see the strike instantly spring to mind.

With many more I could instantly bring up as evidence, we can go back to last season and one decision that cost us our premier league place when you take it into account.

Bobby Madley was the ref and in a game against Sunderland in which we were absolutely battering them, he sent off our then captain Fabricio Coloccini for what he deemed as a professional foul. The fact that this decision was overturned the week after made no difference as our domination was stopped and we lost the game.

The points loss and ultimate awarding to the team that finished just above mas massive.

Anyway, fast forward to this season and it's every week where big decisions are going against us with the wrongful double sending off of Jonjo Shelvey and Paul Dummett saw another game in which we battered the opposition in Notts Forest but still lose to their two player advantage to go with the ref.

There's also the disallowing of a penalty and just deciding that we couldn't have one after all. An absolute joke decision but these are mounting up.

In the heat of the promotion battle though and with Huddersfield the likely closest challengers to us going up, who do the EFL appoint in our next important game? Yes that's right, a bloke who comes from the city that are challenging us in Huddersfield and funnily enough, Bobby Madley's Brother! Andrew Madley.

This surely wont turn out well.
