Ipswich v Newcastle Thoughts

Ipswich v Newcastle Thoughts

Getting a bit tense this promotion lark and tonight could see the gap between us and 3rd down to only 2 points potentially.

Yes, I know there's some permutations for this to happen and even then for Huddersfield to win their game in hand at Wolves but these things can happen, so it's very important that the team starts putting the chances away.

In our last four games, we have four sides with nowt to play for, which to some may see it as them thinking of the beach. I see it more as playing sides which have no pressure whatsoever on them and a chance to shine.

With Preston, Cardiff and Barnsley to come after this game, it wont be as easy as it seems if nerves kick in.

Ive also had a thought that Mick McCarthy may have a big say in today's game as he predicted us to go up and if his side beat us then he'll look dafter than usual as the pressure gets cranked up. Ipswich's form at home being decent with only one defeat since Boxing Day although the majority have been draws.

A fixture that is yet again called Sir Bobby Robson Day where two sides come together as one for a bit, just wonder if Sir Bobby has any divine inspiration from up above to choose a favourite to win.

The squad will be the same one that played Leeds on Friday with any return for Ciaran Clark or Dwight Gayle kept on hold until a week today.
