Newcastle: Takeover off

Newcastle fans will have to put up with Fat Fred at the helm for a while longer after The Belgravia group ended its interest in the club.

After months of speculation the group pulled out announcing that they had been 'unable to agree a price and transaction structure'.

And after Polygon pulled out earlier in the month, it seems unlikely that a bid will be made for the club anytime soon.

However, as discussed previously on this page, the ownership of Newcastle United by such faceless investment groups may not be beneficial to the club long term.

Perhaps with these two groups pulling out, the way is paved for a bid by a local, fan backed consortium. Well, we can dream can;t we?

With many foriegn people/groups taking over football clubs it puzzls me why. Must be the status or image, it can't be because of investment?
