Vital Newcastle Weekly Round Up (18/12/16)
The start of a new feature on Talk of the Tyne in which we recap on what has or hasn't happened in regards to our beloved NUFC.
The week has been dominated by preparation and playing of games with two tricky away games on the agenda.
The first was the televised trip to Wigan with the second, a trip to lowly Burton in a game billed a mismatch by their manager Nigel Clough.
The fact that the history books will show that we won both games and not comment on the performances is good enough for us I suppose when you consider the disgraceful defeat at Notts Forest the other week in which we were cheated out of the points, although the fact remains that the result will still be down as a loss.
Yesterday's win sees the momentum gathering with it being the 3rd win in a row since the Forest match and with two home games to come this week before trips to the likes of Blackburn up in the new year, the chance is there to extend the gap in the automatic places.
Brighton are the other side keeping pace with us as they won both their games this week as well with the 3rd place team, Reading, starting to struggle a little although they got a late winner yesterday to improve on their defeat in midweek.
One teams to watch out for maybe are Huddersfield after their good start to the season had people writing them off once their little run ended, their slide down the table has been halted with a good week of maximum points
