Predictably Unpredictable NUFC
As the dust settles on Saturday's loss against Blackburn, it settles for me amidst a so predictable outcome that I predicted could happen.
A section of our fan base expecting so called inferior opponents to just lie down like cannon fodder or each game be a walkover.
The media not helping by printing fixture lists where records can be won and some players maybe buying in to the fact that we're top of the league, so the effort levels can drop.
It's all part and parcel of the game I suppose but with a warning from our world class manager in Rafa Benitez in stating that each game is difficult, this isn't done in order to be sarcastic towards the weaker side but done to keep our lot professional in the approach.
Of course winning runs are always there to be ended and every team in world football loses now and again but it doesn't stop the finger pointing from many although in this instance I reckon they're pointing in the wrong direction.
Rafa Benitez got a bit of blame for rotating the team although he was credited on the nine previous wins of the run. He was also blamed for many other things including the late subs, although he admitted that one.
Me, like Benitez thought the team that was chosen to start had more than enough within it to win the game comfortably. Yes, Blackburn came with a game plan to interrupt the game flow but many sides have done this through history and it usually stops when a goal goes in as they then have to chase a losing game.
I blame a few players for not trying their best as there was no tempo until a certain point and too many were off their game as if they were wanting someone else to be the catalyst and I wont name their names because we were due an off day as that's what im calling it.
Luckily we have a very important cup game tomorrow for many to make amends before the league campaign really cranks up with the many festive games ahead. Hopefully with lessons learned.
