Glenn's Target Man

Speculation is mounting that Glenn Roeder will bring Peter Crouch to St. James's park in the January transfer window.

The 6'7'' striker has found himself out of favour at Anfield in recent weeks and may see a switch to Newcastle as way to kick start his career.

And Roeder may well feel that his aerial ability will be a boon, not only in terms of goal scoring, but also in defending set pieces. Something Newcastle have looked shaky with all season.

Roeder will also be looking to strengthen the defence but with Chelsea seemingly willing to offer £7 million for journeyman centre-back Matthew Upson it's likely he will focus his attention elsewhere.

One possible target is former Newcastle favourite Jonathon Woodgate, but Newcastle fans will remember that he showed his exactly where his heart lies when he opted to join the Smoggies on loan, rather than re-join the Toon.

And with Oliver Bernard injured, and Babayaro desperately struggling for form Roeder may be best off concentrating his search on the left back posistion.

Seems to have fallen out of favour at Liverpool despite a terrific start to the season.

Do your research and you'd find out he's performing at a much lower level than he did last season, but he's scoring more goals. £8 million and you can have him.

Would be a great acquisition for you I reckon. When Owen gets back, those two would eb a formidable partnership!
