TRAVELLING TO ANFIELD

GROUND
Away fans are located in the Anfield Road Stand at one end of the ground, where 2,000 tickets are available, although it is increased for cup games. It is shared with home fans. The view can be bad from here, I have to admit, and when you get 'restricted' view on your ticket it means it is like watching the match through a letterbox.

PUBS
The Arkes pub near the ground is the place famous for away fans. It can get extremely crowded and sometimes the door is closed around 90 minutes before kick-off. There are plenty of pubs over Stanley Park at the Goodison side of town. The Hermitage is close to Goodison on Queens Drive, and The Spellow, The Blue House and Wilnslow Hotel are canny enough. The Flat Iron is just around the back of the Arkles.

GETTING THERE
Getting to Stanley Park, where there is a huge car park: Follow the M62 until you reach the end of the motorway (beware of a 50mph speed camera about a quarter of a `mile from the end of the motorway, notorious for tickets). Then follow the A5056 towards Liverpool. After three miles, turn left at the traffic lights into Utting Avenue (there is a McDonalds on the corner of this junction). Proceed for one mile and you will see Stanley Park at the end of the road.

TRAIN
Kirkdale station is the closest to the ground (just under a mile away) and can be reached by first getting a train from Liverpool Lime Street to Liverpool Central and then changing there for Kirkdale. Personally, I'd rather save all the bother and get a taxi from Lime Street. It's three miles away, but I've walked it back to the station before and it is all downhill.
