'If It's Football, It's Vital'

'Forrest Gump' Toured St James' Park

Steven Taylor just about did a lap of honour around St James' Park when he scored the winner against Celta Vigo, and he was ribbed by his team-mates who called him 'Forrest Gump'.

The night started badly for the Mags when Uruguayan Fabian Canobbio put the visitors ahead with a superbly-taken ninth-minute strike.

However, Frenchman Antoine Sibierski found the back of the net with a 36th-minute header to level and set the stage for Taylor to win it with his first goal for the club.

Roeder: 'It was his first goal. I think he let everyone in the stadium know it was his first goal.

'I heard one or two shouts from the other players when I got back to the dressing room of 'Forrest Gump'. I was not sure what they meant.

'He certainly enjoyed it, and why not? Good luck to him.'
