Sammy Follows Roeder's Orders

Sammy Lee gave James Milner a run out in his one-match reign as England Under-21 coach, although Glenn Roeder allegedly asked him to substitute the youngster.

The Newcastle manager has major injury problems with his strikers and didn't want to risk Milner in a friendly international. But a compromise was reached.

Arsenal full-back Justin Hoyte pounced on a goalkeeping error from Boy Waterman to score the only goal of the game at the DSB Stadion.

Lee was only in charge for the match because Peter Taylor was concentrating on club matters at Crystal Palace.

ENGLAND U21: Carson, Hoyte, Baines (Rosenior 46), Davies,Kilgallon, Huddlestone, Routledge (Welsh 78),Milner (Whittingham 65), Nugent (Onuoha 85), Young,Walcott (Jerome 83).
