'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Roeder: 'Forget The Cups ...'

United are in the quarter final of the Carling Cup, going great guns in the UEFA Cup and of course still have the FA Cup to come. But under-pressure Newcastle boss Glenn Roeder says the Premiership is still the competition we must get the results.

Roeder: 'We are taking the UEFA Cup very seriously and we have had two great results in the UEFA Cup. It is nice to be sitting top of that league, anyway.

'But the Premiership, without doubt - and we understand that - is our bread and butter, that is where we earn our living.

'It is the most important thing in our lives at Newcastle United, not just being in the Premiership, but being high up in the Premiership. But that does not mean we do not give our very best every time we play in another competition.'
