'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A New Found Respect For NUFC And Football

Ever since flight MH17 was brought down over Ukranian hostile zones on the afternoon of July 17th, the respect shown around the football world for two of our supporters that were onboard has brought many a lump to the throat.

The fact that our greatest rivals in Sunderland had a whip round to raise over 30,000 as well as many other feats by other clubs just shows that aside from the nasty rivalry, we all keep focus of why we support our own clubs.

Some may support from home, some go to the odd match whilst others are regular with the very rare going to every single game as was the case with John and Liam with their massive journey to New Zealand.

What was a great tragedy is starting to have a feel of a legacy about it with many bridges being built or rebuilt with Aston Villa today showing marvelous respect by getting the vast majority of the crowd joining in with the now famous 17th minute applause. Nice banners (like the one pictured below) replacing the hurtful ones of days gone by.

We all support our club and want what is the best for it but coming together after a tragedy to join together as one in a new found respect is the ultimate tribute.

Think the football family widens aways from team colours when things like this happen, we are all tribal but we are all also proper football people.

Aye J, spot on. Smashing applause from Villa today like. Hope this continues because there's too much hostility in the world
